Dia de Campo na TV - Hortaliças tradicionais (Legendas em inglês)

Arowroot is a vegetable traditionally cultivated by communities in the
northeast and southeast. The plant roots are used to manufacture flour
or manioc starch, which may be used to make cakes and cookies. In
addition to nutritional content, arrowroot flour does not contain
gluten. Ora-pro-nobis is used in Minas Gerais, usually in casseroles or
sautéed. that vegetable is rich in proteins, nutrients rarely found in
vegetal sources. Yams or carás, as they are named in Brazil
middle-south, are rich sources of carbohydrates and have a depurative
action on blood. Those vegetables have in common coarseness, high
nutritional content and the fact that they have been disappearing from
brazilian production fields. They are named nonconventional vegetables,
or traditional vegetables, as they are out of the supply chain and are
in general kept by traditional communities.
